I was going to write a review for 3-4 stars, but I liked everything except the overwhelming use of sex. I skipped many pages of sex and looked for the story to begin again. Not sure why she did this. I have loved her other books and saw no need for this amount of sex. HOWEVER, i loved the character and the growing friendships and learning her craft and working with others. I am currently on book 6 and bought the other 3 already. I still skip the stupid sex. A couple of times, she could have KILLED off a character and didn't, which made me UP the rating to 5 star. Sure hope this hold through to the end! I love her/Breene's humor and I love her writing voice. Hope her next books skip the sex. (the way she handled sex in her other books didn't bother me) Anyway, i highly recommend - you can always fast forward the pages of you-know-what. I read the Chosen series and thought I had found a new favorite author. Unfortunately, I was very disappointed in this series. The plot in the first four books had a lot of action and interesting twists which I did enjoy. However, the raw sex on almost every page was a distraction and I found too blatant, including The humor which was mostly sexually oriented. Humans were regularly ridiculed, abused and raped by the males in this nonhuman culture and that activity was treated lightly in the story. I was disappointed in the male hero who was pretty much led around by his small head after meeting the female lead. She also became more and more in charge as the story progressed and did an awful lot of yelling. Would have preferred to see a strong partnerships, instead of having the strong male abdicate to the tiny female. Most of the other males were a little too focused on their sex lives to be taken seriously. It appears to me that the author built this story around a race of people whose sexual activity was depraved by most standards in order to fill the story with as must sex as possible. Probably should have a disclaimer in this book to let readers know in advance that this book is X rated.
